EMDR Intensives · Indiana
Come for your intensive.
Leave different.
Accelerated EMDR designed for people who need real healing without the weekly therapy grind.
Do months of trauma work in a single 2–6 hour session.
“I understand why I react this way. I can connect it to my childhood. But I'm still a mess.”
If that sounds familiar, talk therapy has probably done what it can—and it's time for something that works differently.
Is traditional talk therapy not working for you?
You've done years of therapy and can explain your patterns perfectly—but your body hasn't gotten the memo
1
Weekly 50-minute sessions keep getting interrupted by whatever crisis happened that week, so you never actually get to the trauma.
2
You're tired of spending months circling a memory instead of processing it.
3
You want dedicated, uninterrupted time to do the deep work—not another year of check-ins.
4
Why talk therapy stalls out on trauma
This is what trauma research tells us about the brain—and it explains why insight alone often isn't enough.
It works top-down
Talk therapy runs through the prefrontal cortex—logic, language, narrative—hoping insight will eventually change how you feel and behave.
Trauma lives elsewhere
Trauma is often stored in nonverbal, survival-based circuits—the amygdala and brainstem—not the language centers used for storytelling.
Understanding isn't enough
You can fully understand your trauma intellectually while your body's threat response stays exactly the same.
What tends to work better
Research supports moving beyond pure talk therapy toward approaches that reach the nervous system directly—often with meaningfully larger effect sizes.
EMDR
Somatic & Body-based Work
IFS / Parts Work
Group-based Support
Phased, Safety-first Treatment
Complex trauma—repeated interpersonal trauma, often starting in childhood—generally responds less well to pure narrative approaches. It's how the brain encoded the memory in the first place.
What actually happens in EMDR
You briefly hold a distressing memory in mind while following back-and-forth eye movements or taps—similar to what your eyes naturally do during REM sleep, when your brain processes the day.
The theory: traumatic memories get stuck in raw, unprocessed form, still triggering fear as if the event were happening now.
Bilateral stimulation helps your brain file the memory away properly, so it stays a memory—but loses its emotional charge. You never have to narrate the trauma in detail out loud, which is part of why EMDR reaches what talk therapy alone can't.
Therapy that feels like a retreat
What changes when you actually have the time
Relief that doesn't take months
A concentrated block of EMDR can move you through processing that would normally take months of weekly visits — in a single dedicated stretch.
Nothing gets lost in between
No re-explaining last week's crisis, no warming back up. You go deep and stay there, instead of restarting every seven days.
A softer landing
Sessions are paced so you leave calmer than you arrived — not raw, reactivated, and sent home to sit with it alone.
You finish what you start
Doing the work in one sitting instead of stretching it across a year makes it far less likely you'll stop partway through.
What the process looks like
01
Consultation
A 90-minute conversation with Amber, plus a short questionnaire, so she understands your history and goals.
02
Decide together
By the end of the consultation, you'll know whether an EMDR intensive is the right next step for you.
03
Get scheduled
Typically within a month. You'll get a list of places to stay, things to do nearby, and optional add-ons like massage or yoga.
04
Your intensive
Dedicated, uninterrupted time with Amber, integrating IFS/parts work and somatic movement alongside EMDR.
Make it a retreat, not just a session
Healing goes further when your whole body gets support, not just the hour in the room. Add any of the following to your agenda while you're here:
Massage therapy
Book a session before or after your intensive to help your body settle into the work, and settle again afterward.
Craniosacral work
A gentle, hands-on complement that supports the same nervous system regulation EMDR is working toward.
A local yoga class
Move through what's processing. A class nearby can help you integrate the day instead of just sitting with it.
